Introduction:

During our journey here on earth, times may become hard and discouraging. While these days are inevitable, we should not lose hope but look to God's word for hope. The Psalms in particular can lift us up when life becomes overwhelming.

Body:

1.  Look to God's Word When you are afraid (Psalms 27: 1-3)

· During dark days when fear arises in your heart, look to the Lord for he is your salvation and protector. Jehovah is greater than all your difficulties, Psalms 84: 11, Psalms 3: 1-6.

· Whatever is troubling you or causing you to fear, go to God for help, Psalms 27: 5-8, Psalms 34:4.  Seek God in his word and through prayer, Psalms 62: 8, Psalms 31: 20.

2.  Look to God's word when you feel all alone, Psalms 27: 10

· Even if everyone else forsakes you, God never will, Hebrews 13: 5-6.  As long as we are faithful to God, he will be on our side, Psalms 118: 6.

3.  Look to God's word when you are worried, Psalms 27: 13-14.

· We can be confident God knows all about our difficulties and anxieties.  God will do what is best for us if we will be patient, Psalms 37: 34, Psalms 40: 1-3.  He has not forgotten you if you will trust and obey.

4.  Look to God's word when your world seems to be falling apart

· Sometimes the best thing to do is offer praise to God, Psalms 34: 1-3.  Note it says at all times. Remember god's goodness even if life isn't very good at the moment, Ephesians 5: 20.

When you feel like you cannot go on anymore, ask God for mercy karma Psalms 142: 1-2.  Pour your soul out to God. Don't hold back. Tell God exactly how you feel.

5.  Look to God's word When your anger has reached a breaking point, Psalms 141: 1-4

· Sometimes your anger reaches a point when you are tempted to say the wrong thing with the wrong spirit.  In these times, remember the word of the psalmist. Also, the wise man Solomon had these words, proverbs 13: 3; 21: 23.

Conclusion:

God and his word are the places to go for hope in hard times.
