Individual Responsibility
Introduction:
In our day and time, responsibility is something many try to avoid
instead of being willing to accept. As individuals, we are
responsible for our own thoughts, attitudes, words, and actions.
Body:
I.
Shifting Blame
·
Have you ever done something wrong and tried to shift the blame to
someone else? If so, you are not alone.
·
Adam blamed Eve. (Genesis
3:12)
·
Aaron blamed the people. (Exodus
32:21-24)
·
Saul blamed circumstances. (I
Samuel 13:8-14)
·
Pilate claimed innocence. (Matthew
27:24)
Shifting blame merely adds to our sins, instead of alleviating them.
II.
Cannot Be Excused
·
One’s ancestors do not excuse one of his/her responsibility. (Matthew
3:7-10)
·
Ignorance is no excuses. (Acts
17:30-31)
·
Family is not an excuse. (Luke
9:57-62)
III.
A Day of Reckoning
·
We will appear at the Judgment Seat of Christ. (II
Corinthians 5:10)
What we do in this life has eternal consequences.
·
Judgment will be given at the Great White Throne. (Revelation
20:11-12)
IV.
What Must I Do?
·
Each individual is responsible to do what is right regardless of what
anyone else does. Another person’s wrong is never an excuse for you do
wrong. (Matthew
5:38-39)
·
No one can make you do anything. Right or wrong! You can always choose
even if it means death. (Hebrews
11:24-25, 35b)
·
You can do anything you should do. There is no commandment that you
cannot do. (Deuteronomy
30:11-14)
Conclusion:
Each of us is responsible for what he/she does. It’s all about making
right decisions. (Deuteronomy
30:19-20)
